Aneurysms: New Imaging Technologies: Dr. Troy Payner (+ read more)

Troy D. Payner, MD, speaks to health reporter Anne-Marie Tiernon from WTHR-TV Channel 13 News about aneurysms and the new fluorescence dye technology used by neurosurgeons at Indianapolis Neurosurgical Group to allow them to visualize blood flowing through the blood vessels in the brain. Seeing blood flow will tell the surgeon if the procedure used to block blood from the aneurysm is indeed working and also if the blood vessels around the aneurysms are still receiving blood to them. Either way, this allows the surgeon to ensure the surgery is a complete success before ending the surgery.

Back and Neck Pain Treatments Dr. Eric Potts, MD & Dr. Derron Wilson, MD (+ read more)

Indianapolis Neurosurgical Group (ING) was featured in the television special, Modern Healing, shown locally on WISH-TV, CBS, in June. ING was the only medical group offering care for back and neck pain to be featured on the show. Eric Potts, MD, neurosurgery-trained spine surgeon at ING, and Derron Wilson, MD, an ING interventional pain management physician, were both interviewed during the show that featured their mutual patient Karrie Shambarger. Karrie shared during the show that she is a radiologic technologist and because of her medical background, she knew she wanted to be seen by a neurosurgeon for her neck pain, due to neurosurgeons' extensive training to understand the how the brain, spinal cord and nervous system all function together. She was first diagnosed with neck problems seven years ago and had surgery done by Dr. Potts. When she woke up one day recently with a new neck problem and couldn't move her neck without severe pain, she called Dr. Potts immediately, who recommended she see his colleague, Dr. Wilson, for pain management options that did not involve surgery.
