ING opens new offices to expand back and neck pain services; includes pain treatment facility

(Indianapolis: November 28, 2008) — Indianapolis Neurosurgical Group (ING) continues to expand its services to bring the most advanced brain, spine, nerve and pain care to central Indiana physicians and their patients.

In November 2008, ING closed its offices in Beech Grove and on the campus of St. Francis Hospital and opened a much larger, fully equipped office in Greenwood, in the newly developed Greenwood Springs Mediplex office complex.

The new office offers more exam rooms to accommodate more patients. In addition, ING recruited a new pain specialist to join its Comprehensive Interventional Pain Management Program. Jose Vitto, MD, is a fellowship-trained interventional pain management physician who is fluent in Spanish. Dr. Vitto completed his fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine, in their pain clinic at IU Hospital. He completed a surgical internship at IU School of Medicine and went on to complete his residency in anesthesiology, also at IU School of Medicine.

Dr. Vitto joins Steven James, MD, a long-time neurosurgeon with ING who has practiced on the south side for many years. Dr. James offers a full-range of neurosurgical procedures and treatment for back and neck pain. Both Dr. James and Dr. Vitto are on the medical staff of St. Francis Hospital.

“One of the best features of this new office in Greenwood is that it offers fully-equipped interventional pain treatment and recovery rooms,” says Dr. Vitto. “There is piece of X-ray equipment we use, called a C-arm, which allows me to provide pinpoint accuracy in diagnosing the exact source of pain along the spinal cord. Having this equipment in our new office means patients don’t have to travel to get relief from their pain. I can also provide therapeutic pain relief procedures in the office.”

“Something that a lot of patients don’t realize is how critical it is to have both a neurosurgeon and a pain physician in the same office,” believes Dr. James. “Dr. Vitto and I can consult with each other about a patient. He may see a patient and feel it is better that I see that patient. Or I may see a patient who is not a candidate for surgery but I can refer the patient directly to Dr. Vitto, so they can still get relief from their pain.

“I would advise any patient or doctor to ask if a pain management office they are considering going to has a neurosurgeon on the premises to provide instant consultation.”

The ING Greenwood office is conveniently located off of I-65 at the County Line Road exit. Patients turn west onto County Line Road and travel to the next traffic light, which is Emerson Avenue. They turn south onto Emerson and the ING office is about ½ mile south of County Line Road, off of Emerson. Patients will travel through two traffic lights then turn east on Greenwood Springs Blvd. This is the same road that leads to Kindred Hospital. The ING building is the first building on the right, after turning on Greenwood Springs Blvd. The office address is 1051 Greenwood Springs Blvd. It is on the second floor in Suite 201. (The building has elevator access.)

Appointments can be made for the Greenwood office by calling 317-396-1300.

ING opened another new office in late 2008. ING had maintained its Northeast Indianapolis office at the Community Hospital North campus for many years. Due to the popularity of the practice, ING outgrew its former space and moved into a larger suite in the recently completed 7120 Clearvista Dr. medical office building, in Suite 3100.

In its efforts to provide the most advanced and modern amenities to it patients, ING also moved into new space at its Downtown Indianapolis office at Methodist Hospital, in the medical office building at 1801 N. Senate Blvd. The new suite number is 610 on the sixth floor of that building.

At its Northwest Indianapolis office at St. Vincent Hospital, ING moved into a larger office in the 8333 Naab Road medical office building in 2007. The new suite number in that building is 250 on the second floor.

Appointment for all offices can be made by calling a single number, 317-396-1300.
